OK, so maybe there’s no such thing as a perfect 40 year old guy, but any guy that’s made it to the big 4-O is deserving of a little something special. Having been there myself a few years ago, all I can tell you, is it’s not really that bad. I read somewhere, that suggested that given the increase in longevity these days, that 40 years is really the new 20. Sounds nice to me. Maybe a little ambitious and gracious, but hey, I’ll take it. And I’m sure the 40 year old in your life will as well. Whatever helps get you through the day.

Now, worrying about what gift to give the new quadrogenarian, doesn’t have to be a big deal. Try to to fret too much about what you’ll be buying the guy. We have simple tastes, and quite often, we’re just happy to be appreciated. If your unsure, stick with his favorites. I’m sure you know what he likes by now. If you’ve been with him any amount of time, you know the things he obsess over.

While there are probably some of those hobbies and past times you’d rather he do indulge in, it’s key to remember it his day. 40th birthdays only come around once, and some guys take it better than others. Anything you can do to help make it easier will only increase your friendship, and deepen your ties.

Of course, if it’s 40th birthday gifts for men suggestions your looking for, we can help out there as well. Here are a few old standards, as well as some rather adventurous gift choices.

If your guy is the least bit interested in sports, then sport related gifts are a great choice. It could be anything from sports memorabilia, to sporting equipment, to sporting apparel, to sporting tickets, or a sporting themed vacation. A chance to meet his favorite sports celebrity at a charity auction or fund raiser is becoming a popular choice today.

If your guy is one of the adventurous types that’s in denial over turning 40, then a choice from the death-defying category may just be in order. Taking flying lessons is a good one. Hang gliding lessons are even better. Or, you could just go for the regular standbys of parachuting and bungee jumping. Whichever of these you pick as a gift, just make sure his life insurance is up to date ;) Special riders may be required for these activities.

Good luck and happy 40th birthday gift shopping.

If he’s a big card player, then your in luck (at least for picking out a gift). Trips to his favorite casino are sure to be a big hit. Custom card tables, poker chips, or even redecorating that tired old games room with a real gamblers theme is sure to be a big hit with him and his buddies on poker night. Whatever you do, stay away from the old picture with the dogs playing poker. Nobody really needs that.
