I think you can use 40x OPTICAL in video mode but NOT still photo mode.

  3. nenxe on March 6th, 2009 4:52 pm

Should have zoomed back out at the end to show off the 80X total zoom.

I can’t wait to get the camera. But as I know the camera will be release late of april.

The information has been very useful. For the JPN version there will be an framewire upgrade to use RAW. And the SX1is will be the first compact digital camera to have CMOS
It would be good to have a 3d render image processing. It would change your pictures to 3D.

Oh, nevermind, I just looked into it and I guess the CCD sensor is used in lower end digital cameras, they aren’t as good as a CMOS though.

  11. Zeezy on March 6th, 2009 4:52 pm

Did you have it shipped over?
Just wondering, how much did you get it for? The one on the Canon USA site is $600.

Thanks Zeezy, bummer for me I just bought mine on the 15th when it went on sale.

  13. Zeezy on March 6th, 2009 4:52 pm

I’m not too sure about the difference, as I never looked into it. All I know is that it uses the same type of CMOS that the Canon EOS cameras use. RAW is basically an uncompressed image, instead of being compressed into JPEG as most digital cameras do.

    Ah ok.
Canon just added the SX1 to their USA site on Feb. 17th, looks like it’ll be available to the U.S. public in April.
I can’t wait, I’m definitely going to get it.

  15. enterthefighter on March 6th, 2009 4:52 pm

what is the differnce between CCD and CMOS. What is so good about RAW processing it might be too much for me to handle.

  16. BusterBayVideos on March 6th, 2009 4:52 pm

That’s a bummer I just bought one. Where did you find this info ?

  17. CS3IS on March 6th, 2009 4:52 pm

Its will be available in USA with RAW support in 3 months time.

  18. BusterBayVideos on March 6th, 2009 4:52 pm

You can’t buy it in the USA you can only buy the SX10 / IS

judging by the quality, I’d say he used the digital zoom also…but then the moon can be a strange thing to focus on because its a bright object set against a dark background.

  23. LTF85199 on March 6th, 2009 4:52 pm

he could have used a telescope as additional optical zoom

  24. turan86 on March 6th, 2009 4:52 pm

It has to be including digital zoom. Cause optical zoom is 20x. But it look quite good a think

  25. LTF85199 on March 6th, 2009 4:52 pm

How did you get 80x zoom is that all optical or digital included?
