As far as I am aware YouTube is still using the Flash-player to view videos, even if showing an “HD” function. All videos are converted to Flash to show them.
Although these HD videos look better, sharper and with better definition, they are not true HD in the technical sense of the word. What you see depends on your graphics card, download speed and most of all; your monitor’s capability.
Most users are not watching true HD on the net.
    Only as previously stated.

So what do you want to call youtube HD quality video? HD like quality ? (rolleyes)

  5. mikesey1 on February 2nd, 2009 4:51 pm

Yes I can and am in no need of an optician, however, I stick by my original premise: that HD really only applies to those making or watching Blue-ray DVDs, and watching on a proper 1080p TV with HDMI connection.
The internet is not the place to judge HD.
In this country, even HD digital TV broadcasts look better on a conventional TV with conventional scanning and 625 lines.

you dont see a difference between the standard quality and HD on youtube ? are you blind ?

Hmm, not too bad in low light it seems. Can’t wait to get my hands on one and try it in the nightclubs

Hmm HD., yet another thing we don’t need, and who looks at HD 1080p via the internet without an HD ready TV or monitor? or WHO has them at all?
Okay for making HD DVDs, but not much else.

Youtube HD is really perfect quality wise, the original file will be very similar. Check out my channel for more SX1 HD movies.
BTW, was this taken in the Kobe city port in japan ?

nice video! could you upload the original?

  14. 001FJ on February 2nd, 2009 4:51 pm

Very good quality. Could you please take and upload a video where the camera is panning? I want to buy an SX1 but I read it distorts images (most obvious is a skew of vertical lines) when taking a video and the camera is moving horizontally.

It looks good, I’m quite surprised at how much light detail is retained in the highlights part.
Do you have manual control over exposure compensation and frame rate and f-number ? Thank you.

    Beautiful…

  19. pcgeek86 on February 2nd, 2009 4:51 pm

Hmmmmm, it looks pretty good, but I’m surprised it isn’t a little sharper at 1080p. Maybe it just has to do with the video conversion on Youtube.

  20. DaTSpEJay on February 2nd, 2009 4:51 pm

Wow…. To say this is a flash video, and simply not showing the full HD capability of the camera….
Iam looking for a camera and making my decision, this kind of video just makes me dribble with joy!

When i watch my own HD vids on a 50″ tv… This is going to be something else ^_^

If you click on “Watch in HD” it’s stunning. Great job.
