I have one Canon EOS 40D and some Canon lens, specially two “L” serie: 24-105 & 70-200 4L, both with IS. I love the photography. Thanks! Canon.

we love you Canon, but please please please supply lens hoods with non-L series lenses.

The subtitle is an expression of ‘the perfect image’ which is probably intended for HDTV. The practical subtitle which are usually in yellow would express a whole different feeling.

  13. Orcinus24x5 on December 24th, 2008 4:52 pm

only with L-series lenses, and that’s not up to B&H to decide. Canon includes hoods with all L-series lenses.

  14. Orcinus24x5 on December 24th, 2008 4:52 pm

Uh, what are you talking about? I can read the subtitles perfectly. You DO realize that Youtube transcodes all videos which cuases a loss in quality. This is completely out of the hands of Canon, and is not ironic at all. Perhaps you should click the “watch in high quality” link just below the video window?

  15. genyouwin on December 24th, 2008 4:52 pm

Perhaps its the FLV that does it – but it’s ironic that a company so dedicated to ‘the perfect image’ makes an advertising video whose subtitles can’t be read…

I hope the new canon 50D is caming out very soon with 12mp.

  17. pavel89l on December 24th, 2008 4:52 pm

Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival…
    The eye of the EOS!!!

  19. l33thustla on December 24th, 2008 4:52 pm

Nikon sucks their own lens lol!

  20. LDD86 on December 24th, 2008 4:52 pm

    SUCK ON IT, NIKON!

  21. charmarmi on December 24th, 2008 4:52 pm

I can read it clearly, i think you need a special eye glass or something or perhaps a canon telephoto lens, hahaha!

  22. genyouwin on December 24th, 2008 4:52 pm

    Hi JMC,

My apologies if you thought my comment re ‘acerbic’ (sorry for the typo) was directed at you. It wasn’t, it was for Orcinus. Thanks for your polite reply. :o )

  23. JustMakingComments on December 24th, 2008 4:52 pm

Their intent on HDTV is a mistake. More people see it here. Plus, there are no “high quality” link. I know it’s against the rules, or even know if it will work, but I gave you a couple thumbs up because I think your comment is constructive.

    ‘ascerbic’ or ‘acerbic.’

  24. genyouwin on December 24th, 2008 4:52 pm

    Hi there, JMC,

I could ’see’ that the subtitles would be visible in HD, or in a decent quality mpeg – but they still seemed a bit ’scrawny’ for me. Just a pet hate of mine – subtitles that can’t be read unless you’ve 20/20 vision or are sitting with your nose to the screen.

  25. genyouwin on December 24th, 2008 4:52 pm

Er, yes, I do know what Flash encoding does to video – as I intimated in my message. ;o)

Alas, no, I don’t have a ‘watch in high quality’ option on my YouTube. (How come you have, and I don’t?)

Thank you anyway for your (ascerbic) comment (and negative vote) on my (obviously) tongue-in cheek comment.

Ah, the subtleties of the English language are often only recognised if delivered wrapped around a brick… :o )
